Stephen Waller, volunteer with Gipton Community Gardens, is featured in a free exhibition of photographs celebrating the city's volunteers at Leeds City Library. Martin Maybank, who graduated from Leeds College of Art and Design this summer, took the photographs as part of his final year project for his degree. The 'Do' project features pictures of volunteers from a range of organisations.

Just a gentle reminder - The Leeds Community News Hub opens its doors with a special launch on Wednesday 17 November and is a joint community news initiative between The Centre for Journalism at Leeds Trinity University College and the Guardian Local project.
If you are involved in a community group or organisation and want to know more about today's news media, how it works and how you can get involved - or you just want to know how to get your story covered - then the hub will give you access to expert speakers, drop-in sessions and provide a forum for discussing news ideas. Equally, if you are an individual interested in covering the news in your local area, then the speakers who visit the hub should provide you with inspiration for how to do this.

A campaign for cheaper bus fares and a better service in Leeds is gathering support. A number of councillors as well as MPs Ed Balls and Stuart Andrew have signed the petition on Fairer Fares in the past week.

The culmination of a summer spent capturing the focus and creativity of a group of young offenders has come to a head next month. Leeds photographer Kirsteen Ashton is exhibiting a collection of shots selected from more than 3,500 images as part of an artistic project at Project Space, Leeds. The 'Shooting Young Offenders' exhibition is currently running until Saturday 11 December at Project Space in Leeds; open Wednesday to Saturday 12pm-5pm at the Whitehall Waterfront on Riverside Way
